Edit on Wikidata Bjørn Nørgaard (born 21 May 1947 in Copenhagen) is a Danish sculptor, graphic artist and performance artist. He was a student at the Ex-school. He was a professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1985 to 1994 and is a member of Kulturkanonen's committee for visual arts. Bjørn Nørgaard became nationally known for a horse slaughter (the horse was called Røde Fane) in a field by Kirke Hyllinge in Hornsherred. The horse sacrifice was a protest against the Vietnam War in connection with the controversial exhibition Tabernacle in Louisiana in 1970. was originally supposed to take place in connection with a group exhibition at the Louisiana Museum of Art (in the park), but the police banned it with reference to veterinary hygiene rules.
