Edit on Wikidata Bjørn Nørgaard (born 21 May 1947 in Copenhagen) is a Danish sculptor, graphic artist and performance artist. He was a student at the Ex-school. He was a professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1985 to 1994 and is a member of Kulturkanonen's committee for visual arts. Bjørn Nørgaard became nationally known for a horse slaughter (the horse was called Røde Fane) in a field by Kirke Hyllinge in Hornsherred. The horse sacrifice was a protest against the Vietnam War in connection with the controversial exhibition Tabernacle in Louisiana in 1970. was originally supposed to take place in connection with a group exhibition at the Louisiana Museum of Art (in the park), but the police banned it with reference to veterinary hygiene rules. "horse slaughter". The film Horse Sacrifice was made over the horse slaughter or sacrifice. Bjørn Nørgaard has made 17 tapestries about the history of Denmark hung in 1990 at Christiansborg.
